From January till April 2017, NEEDS had participated in more than 9 local, regional and international events and activities, in the fields of Energy Management, Digital Transformation, E-Learning, Energy Audits, Renewable Energies, Energy Efficiencies, Climate Change, in the various sectors of energy, industry, automation, management, education, and environment, in the presence of the various Ministries, Officials, and Organizations representatives, as well as local and International companies, like EU, League of Arab States, UNDP, Ministry of Energy, Ministry of Industry, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Environment, RCREEE, LCEC and many more.
The Second Lebanese Conference on Information Systems – LCIS’17, LAU Beirut Campus & LAU New York Academic Center, April 27 − 29, 2017
The Department of Information Technology and Operations Management at the Lebanese American University (LAU), Adnan Kassar School of Business, in partnership with the Lebanese Association for Information Systems (LAIS), organized the “Second Lebanese Conference on Information Systems - LCIS 2017” titled:
“Advancing Business Innovations, Competitiveness, and Progressiveness: the Role of ICT toward Smart Organizations”, in which it covered the innovative approaches and strategies to meeting the needs of business organizations in a competitive, interconnected, and increasingly digitized business world.
Dr. Mounir Yehia, NEEDS Chairman, was invited to be a Key Note Speaker at the conference. Dr. Yehia presented NEEDS vision in Digital Transformation through his presentation titled: “From Business Digital Transformation: Towards Smart Organizations”
Career and Specialization Forum, Collège Central Jounieh (CCJ), Lebanon - March 31st, 2017
NEEDS had participated in the “Career and Specialization Forum” in Central College Jounieh (CCJ) that was held on March 31st, 2017 in Jounieh, Lebanon.
Under the patronage of engineer Nehmet Frem, and headed by Father Antoine Salameh (CCJ Rector) and Father Wadih Skayem (CCJ Director), the school hosted the Forum, where CCJ noble mission is to develop active, positive, productive, cultured, responsible and intellectual young men and women who can creatively build their own future in a highly interconnected world and successfully contribute in making the world a better place to live.
In this event, NEEDS Booth displayed the company digital transformation history, extending from the Digital Utility Concept to the Smart Energy Saving SMARTi Solution, to the digital transformation of traditional classroom learning practices into more robust, customizable and smart learning experiences using advanced technologies, via SOrCE platform. The projected demonstrations in the booth included, among others, SOrCE storyboard, and the video detailing SOrCE implementation in CCJ. During the event, NEEDS had organized a competition using SOrCE platform in its booth, where students played and enjoyed the competition, showing their capabilities in solving tricky analytical problems. The competition winner was awarded a tablet offered by NEEDS. In addition, NEEDS made during the event an interview with Radio Liban Culture, that was covering the Forum details.
NEEDS Booth was visited by several participating schools directors, teachers, students, educational institutions, academic bodies, as well as parents, interested in the field of Digital transformation in the Education and Academic systems.
Noteworthy that CCJ and NEEDS had entered into an agreement for developing a successful education environment at school to improve the efficacy of teaching and learning to align with the desired 21stcentury learning skills within a rapid and changing interconnected world, and this all by using SOrCE platform (www.sorce.online).
“Middle East Electricity” event, Dubai , UAE – February 14, 15 and 16, 2017
NEEDS had delegate participation in the Middle East Electricity 2017 conference, that was held from February 14th till 16th, 2017 in Dubai, UAE. Middle East Electricity & Solar Middle East 2017 delivered a 3 day programme of educational and industry leading experiences for visitors. In cooperation with the strategic partners Dubai Municipality and the Environmental Centre for Arab Towns, Middle East Electricity created a series of new features, conferences and activations that focus on the future of Smart Cities, and the innovations which are set to lead the way both locally and internationally in the coming decade. The 2017 Consultants' Arena at Middle East Electricity featured world-class engineering consultants sharing concepts and regulations vital to the electricity markets in the Middle East, including sustainable product specification requirements, project management tools, and green guidelines set by the UAE. This event took place in Dubai World Trade Centre, Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
“Lebanon Climate Act: Business Knowledge Platform II” event, Lebanon - February 2nd, 2017
On February 2nd, 2017, NEEDS had participated in the ‘Lebanon Climate Act: Business Knowledge Platform – Session II’. The subject project aims in establishing a network of companies and institutions actively engaged in the fight for climate change. It initiates the involvement of the private sector in the wider climate change community and will provide a space for businesses to showcase and support climate action, through concrete initiatives and approaches. This Event took place at the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture of Beirut and Mount Lebanon in Beirut.
“The BettShow 2017” event, ExCeL, London, United Kingdom - January 25, 26, 27 and 28, 2017
NEEDS had delegate participation in the Bett 2017 show, that was held from January 25th till 28th, 2017, in London. Bettis an annual trade show held in the United Kingdom related to the use of information technology in education. In this event, people, ideas, practices and technologies are brought together to discover the new potential transformation in education. The event took place in ExCeL London, Royal Victoria Dock, United Kingdom.
“Entrepreneurial University” event, USJ Beirut, Lebanon - January 26, 2017
On January 26, 2017, NEEDS had participated in the second Symposium entitled “Entrepreneurial University”, organized by the Lebanese Association for the Advancement of Sciences (LAAS) and the Saint Joseph University (USJ), in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, the Ministry of Industry, the Ministry of Labor, the Ministry of Economy and Trade, the University de Lorraine, the AUF, the French Institute, the French Embassy, the CNRS-L, the Association of Lebanese Industrialists (ALI), the Lebanese Businessman Association (RDCL), as well as the doctoral Colleges (USJ, USEK, UL, AUB et BAU). The Event took place at Saint Joseph University (USJ) – Amphitheatre Abou Khater, Beirut Lebanon.
“Tracking progress toward the implementation of energy related SDGs in the Arab region” event, ESCWA Beirut, Lebanon - January 24 and 25, 2017
On January 24-25, 2017, NEEDS had participated in the Expert Group Meeting. The EGM is organized under the strategic framework of UNESCWA on strengthening the capacity of Governments of the Member States on mainstreaming the energy-related SDGs and Paris Agreement into their national development plans. “Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW)” event, Abu Dhabi, UAE - January 16, 17, 18 and 19, 2017
NEEDS had delegate participation in Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW) that was held from January 16th till 19th, 2017 in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW) is a global platform that addresses the interconnected challenges that affect the widespread acceleration and adoption of sustainable development and clean energy, addressing the global energy challenge, the relationships between economic development, poverty eradication, energy security, water scarcity and climate change. Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW) is a large gathering on sustainability in the Middle East, and a significant platform for international dialogue and cooperation. The World Future Energy Summit (WFES), part of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, which was of NEEDS interest, celebrated its 10-year anniversary in 2017, an event tackling renewable energy, energy efficiency and clean technology. The event took place in the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
Official launching ceremony of National Renewable Energy Action Plan for Lebanon (NREAP 2016-2020), January 12, 2017
On January 12th, 2017, NEEDS had participated in the official launching ceremony of the second National Renewable Energy Action Plan for Lebanon (NREAP 2016-2020). The implementation of the NREAP 2016-2020 would need around 1.7 Billion USD over a period of 5 years, creating a huge positive market momentum. The launching was under the patronage and in presence of the Minister of Energy and Water, H.E. Mr. César Abi Khalil. The event took place at the Hilton Metropolitan Palace Hotel in Sin El Fil, Beirut, Lebanon.
